False Prophets and Broken Promises

There’s something deeply unsettling about watching people of faith celebrate the destruction of families at the hands of ICE. It’s not about justice or public safety—it’s about punishment. These raids aren’t targeting cartels or violent offenders. They’re sweeping up fathers picking their kids up from school, mothers working double shifts, children hiding under beds. The cheers from some corners of the church aren’t echoes of moral righteousness—they’re applause for cruelty. And that cruelty is wrapped in the hollow shell of religious justification, as if following Christ means abandoning every lesson He actually taught. When did faith stop being about mercy?

This same moral hollowness shows up in our policies. Take Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”—a Frankenstein piece of legislation sold as fiscal reform, but in reality, a death sentence for Medicaid. Millions of working-class Americans, many in red states, now face losing coverage because of new work requirements and bureaucratic red tape. Rural hospitals are teetering on the edge of collapse. Families who rely on Medicaid for life-saving treatments or to care for elderly relatives are now being asked to jump through hoops or go without. This wasn’t about reducing fraud or balancing budgets. It was about reducing access and shifting blame onto the poor.

And yet, while the government tears families apart and guts healthcare for millions, it remains eerily silent on the secrets of the powerful. Trump, who once promised to “declassify the Epstein files” and expose a network of elites, has now backed off completely. His administration claims there is no client list, no evidence of blackmail, no scandal—just suicide and silence. Internal clashes within his own Justice Department suggest otherwise. And now, even his staunchest allies are questioning if he’s part of the cover-up. The man who promised to drain the swamp is suddenly allergic to sunlight.

All of this—ICE raids cheered by the religious right, Medicaid being gutted in the name of fiscal strength, and the Epstein files buried under bureaucratic infighting—reveals a country not led by morality, but by manipulation. The faithful are being weaponized. The poor are being sacrificed. And the truth is being buried. We are not suffering from a lack of leadership—we’re suffering from a lack of courage, integrity, and accountability. The cruelty is no longer the byproduct of policy. It is the policy. And the people cheering it on might want to take a long look in the mirror and ask: who are you really following?
